On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, St. Margaret of York Parish celebrated the dedication of its new school entrance during Catholic Schools Week. Father Ed Smith, pastor, presided over the dedication and blessing.

The spacious new entryway features an icon of the school’s namesake, St. Margaret Clitherow. Known as the Pearl of York, Clitherow was martyred in 1586 for harboring priests and hearing Mass during the Reformation. She is a model of charity and kindness even in the face of harsh persecution.

Construction on the new entryway began in May 2024 and was completed by the end of December. The new entrance provides a new office area for staff, an expanded lobby, and a safer point of entry for students and families. The school kitchen was also renovated.

“Our new entrance is a dream years in the making. We are so appreciative of our supportive community who continue to place the safety and security of our students and staff at the forefront,” said Principal Kristin Penley.
