We were honored to host Dr. Edward Sri a renowned speaker on October 16, 2019. Dr. Edward Sri is a theologian, author, and well-known Catholic speaker who appears regularly on EWTN. He has written several best-selling books, including his latest release, “Into His Likeness,” which St. Margaret of York gifted each of our parish families this past Christmas and had to order more.

Dr. Sri is a founding leader of the Fellowship of Catholic University Students known more commonly as FOCUS along with Curtis Martin. Furthermore, Dr. Sri leads pilgrimages to Rome and the Holy Land each year and is the host of the weekly podcast “All Things Catholic.”

Partnering with the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the generous sponsor who donated the funds we were able to have Dr. Sri speak on our campus for two talks that evening. In preparation for Dr. Sri’s visit, we as a parish hosted several books studies not only on “Into His Likeness” but also on “Who Am I to Judge” and “Praying the Rosary Like Never Before” during our Summer of Sri. The evening began with a dinner aimed at college-age young adults where he spoke on “Men, Women, and the Mystery of Love.” Later in the evening after a short break, Dr. Sri spoke on “Into His Likeness.” “Into His Likeness” is all about becoming an intentional disciple and turning our hearts and minds over to Christ to help us be conformed into His image.

During the event, we also had a free-will offering to support two charitable apostolates. First, Saint Vincent De Paul and their efforts provide Thanksgiving baskets and other assistance to the needy in our area. Second, Mater Filius Queen City, Inc. is a new apostolate in Cincinnati, with the support and blessing of Archbishop Schnurr, that provides a home for women who are experiencing an unwanted pregnancy and find themselves without the support of family or who are experiencing financial difficulties. One of the many services includes providing a transitional residence for pregnant women in a crisis pregnancy. The home assists women and their babies during pregnancy, childbirth, and the subsequent months after childbirth. We appreciate the generous witness in support of these apostolates.
