What is OCIA?

OCIA stands for the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults, the process through which adults enter the Catholic Church. You may be more familiar with its former name, RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). If OCIA is new to you, you’re not alone—many are just beginning to encounter the updated terminology.

We want to walk with you on this faith journey and satisfy your curiosity to learn more about Catholicism, to discover meaning in life, to grow in God’s peace and joy, and to become a part of our family.

The journey looks different for everyone, but traditionally we start to meet weekly in the fall and finish after Easter. We listen, we share, we answer your questions, and we don’t ask you to do anything unless you’re ready.

Take the First Step.

The first step is a casual conversation. Let’s talk! We’re happy to answer any questions you might have. Call Birgitt Hacker at 513.697.3112, or email at becomingcatholic@smoy.org.

Can’t wait to hear from you!
